1940 Achille Castoldi races the prototype Arno designed and built by Picchiotti at the speed of 126 km/h, setting the speed world record for the 400 kg class. The 1500 cc, 200 HP engine was supplied by Alfa Romeo.

In the following years, the collaboration between Castoldi and Picchiotti kept on setting new speed records, the latest being the 151, 420 km/h on the Arno 5 prototype.
